Savings
Savings aims for the lowest total electricity bill. It weighs avoiding expensive imports, charging cheaply and selling at good prices, and takes small gains as long as they pay after battery losses.
SEMS keeps stored energy for the hours when buying would cost noticeably more, and charges in cheap periods when Allow grid charging is on. With Allow battery grid export on, it sells whenever that pays, best-priced hours first. It can also sell valuable solar now and refill from cheaper solar later, with a margin for clouds.
How it differs from Trading
Savings takes any trade that clears your Minimum net profit (ct/kWh), while Trading holds out for stronger ones. Expect more battery cycles on Savings.
Fine-tuning
In Advanced mode, Price overrides on the Electricity Plan set fixed thresholds: Charge below (ct/kWh), Discharge above (ct/kWh), Minimum spread (ct/kWh) between them, and Hysteresis (ct/kWh) against switching back and forth. On Automatic, SEMS works them out from the prices.
Discharge start SoC (%) on the Strategy page is the level the battery must reach before a new selling session. Once selling starts, it can go down to its normal minimum.
What you need
Dynamic or time-of-use prices on the Electricity Plan. Savings works within Allow grid charging and Allow battery grid export.
What it won't do
Savings keeps no protected outage reserve (Backup does) and doesn't aim at an agreed power limit (Peak Shaving does).
