Trading

Trading earns money on day-ahead prices. It takes the opportunities clearly worth a battery cycle and skips the marginal ones.

SEMS sells in the best-priced hours of the planning horizon and keeps energy for the clearly better ones when it can't serve them all. It buys from the grid only when a later sale pays for the energy, the losses and your profit floor, and it counts the solar that will fill the battery for free first. It can also sell valuable solar now and refill from cheaper solar later.

How it differs from Savings

Trading sets a higher profit bar than Savings, never below your Minimum net profit (ct/kWh), so it cycles less with clearer margins.

Settings

Discharge start SoC (%), in Advanced mode, is the level the battery must reach before a selling session begins. After that it may sell down to its normal minimum, so it isn't sold off in small bites.

What you need

Market prices on the Electricity Plan. Trading works within Allow battery grid export, Allow grid charging and Allow grid-energy resale, and does what is still useful with any of them off.

What it won't do

Trading keeps no protected outage reserve; Backup is Trading with one. It doesn't manage an agreed power limit beyond your grid limits.
