Glossary
Agreed power (dogovorjena moč). The grid import power in kW agreed for each Slovenian network time block, charged monthly per kW. See Slovenian network tariff.
AFCI. Arc-fault circuit interrupter, an inverter detector for arcs in the solar wiring.
Day-ahead price. The market price for each quarter hour of tomorrow, published once a day.
Depth of discharge. How much of the battery's capacity may be used.
Effective price. The price SEMS plans with, fees and network charges included.
ET. A single household energy rate that applies all day.
Excess power (presežna moč). Power above the agreed power in a quarter hour, charged extra.
Export. Energy flowing from your site to the grid.
Grid meter. The meter at your connection point that measures import and export.
Higher and lower season. For the Slovenian network tariff, November to February is the higher season and March to October the lower season.
Import. Energy flowing from the grid into your site.
Lookahead horizon. How far ahead the plan looks, from 1 to 72 hours.
MT/VT. The Slovenian two-rate household tariff. VT is the higher rate on workdays from 6 to 22 h, MT the lower rate at all other times.
Network time block (časovni blok). One of five periods of the Slovenian network tariff. Block 1 is the most expensive and block 5 the cheapest.
OCPP. Open Charge Point Protocol, the standard for managing EV chargers. SEMS supports OCPP 1.6 JSON and OCPP 2.1.
Omrežnina. The Slovenian network charge on your electricity bill.
Peak shaving. Using the battery to keep grid import below a set limit.
PV curtailment. Turning solar inverters down, for example when export would cost money.
RS485 / Modbus. The cable and protocol most devices use to talk to SEMS; Modbus TCP is the same over the network. Some devices use CAN, MQTT or a REST interface instead.
Round-trip losses. The energy lost going into and out of the battery.
SoC. State of charge, the battery's charge level in percent.
SoH. State of health, the share of original capacity the battery still has.
System. A group of devices with one strategy and one electricity plan. One controller can manage several.
Virtual meter. A meter SEMS calculates from other devices' values.
