Before you start

SEMS plans with the customer's real contract data, so ask for the documents before the site visit and enter everything in one go.

Documents to ask for

Ask for the latest electricity and network bill, the supply and buy-back contracts, the grid connection approvals for consumption, solar and battery, and the solar design with the single-line diagram.

Inverter and battery data such as capacity and power limits are read from the devices.

The answer on grid charging and resale sets the Electricity Plan switches that every strategy strictly follows.

On site

SEMS needs a readable meter at the grid connection point. Plan a path to every device: RS485 for Modbus RTU, the CAN bus where a device uses it, and the local network for Modbus TCP, MQTT, REST and OCPP. The controller also needs internet for prices, forecasts and the monitoring portal, and the site's latitude and longitude.
